A pre-COVID video tour!
Just a heads up - we've had a huge increase in customers this year (the secret is out!!), and as a result we are running out of items much faster than usual. The burgeoning interest in houseplants, succulents, natives, edibles, and gardening in general means we will likely have some 'dry spells' (many plants are being propagated/sown frequently and a new crop will be ready within weeks, but for slower growing items, we may not have more until next season). Please check with us before making a trip if you're coming for something specific and know we are working very hard to grow/restock as quickly as possible to meet your needs!
For 47 years our family business has supplied WNC with high quality, low cost plants. We grow more than 90% of our plants from start to finish on site. Each spring, we offer over 1,500 varieties of potted perennials and annuals, including bedding plants and hanging baskets, no-spray edibles, natives, succulents, houseplants, aquatics, shrubs and trees. We also provide a range of beautiful combos, pottery, garden art, and select soil amendments.
Painters is a first-come-first-serve shopping experience; we unfortunately aren't able to accommodate pre-orders and do not have a delivery or landscaping service. Our availability changes as we sell out of certain items for the season and as others mature and become ready for sale; we love growing our own plants, but it may mean you have to make multiple trips to fulfill your wishlist! Luckily, most of our customers are looking for excuses to come peruse and explore as often as possible!
Our 2021 retail season runs from March 3 - July 4, with a short fall season - the rest of the year is for growing our plants! Visit our Availability tab for availability and price lists as well as our COVID protocol - please note our updated mask policy below. Thanks for your cooperation!

Work at Painters
We typically hire for each spring season in January, but it never hurts to submit an application in case of unforeseen turnover or a need for additional staffing during the busy season!
Click here for a copy of our seasonal job application, and make sure to specify which position(s) you would be interested in. We will keep your application on file and reach out if something opens up! Whenever we have a year-round position open up, we will post that separately.
