DO RESEARCH IN ADVANCE
Planning your visit? Check out our Tree & Shrub Availability List, our General Plant Availability list, and the New this Week section on our website. Mid April-late May is the BUSY season at Painters, we always do our best to help, but if you're hoping for more in depth guidance, we recommend either visiting us earlier in the season (March), or emailing us with your questions in advance of your shopping trip and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We also welcome you to check out our many resources & guides on the website; we've created them over the years for the very purpose of helping our customers plan their gardens and maintain healthy plants!

TAKE IN THE BEAUTY OF NATURE
Catawba Falls - CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE UNTIL 2023 - is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in WNC and an easy hike perfect for people of all ages (parts of the chair are all-terrain wheelchair accessible, but a few sections further along require walking through streams).
REFUEL AFTER A BUSY DAY SHOPPING FOR PLANTS
Old Fort is thriving - new businesses and restaurants popping up all the time! After a long day of plant shopping treat yourself to a beer and some tasty food at Hillman Brewery or stop by the Old Fort Ride House to learn about local trails for hiking & biking, grab a cup of coffee and bite to eat, and check out awesome outdoor gear from Kitsbow. Keep an eye out for Whaley Brewery which is opening soon also!
ARTS & CULTURE
Discover the history of Western North Carolina at the Mountain Gateway Museum. Located in the heart of Old Fort, this museum sits in a lovely historical building along with several historical cabins on the grounds. It's a good spot to picnic by the creek, learn the history of our area and town, and explore rotating exhibits from around the state. If you want to get your creative juices flowing visit the Arrowhead Gallery & Studio. Dedicated to promoting the arts in Old Fort and surrounding areas, this gallery has an amazing variety of art by local artisans and offers a range of fun and affordable classes.
