Invasive Spotted Lanterfly Spotted in North Carolina
Since it was first detected in the Northeast in 2014, the Spotted Lanternfly has caused millions of dollars of damage to gardens, landscapes, vineyards, orchards, farms, forests, and more. Not previously seen in North Carolina, this invasive pest was recently sited near Winston Salem. Early detection will be critical in stopping its spread and minimizing the devastating effect it could have on NC landscapes and agricultural crops, particularly grapevines, fruit trees, and a wide range of hardwood trees. Please keep an eye out and report if you see any. Learn more
